Author Visit

David Sargent came to speak to the school on Friday, August 28. He read some of his books to us and brought along some of his special friends that were the inspiration for his stories. After meeting each dog, a teacher was selected to hold them for the remainder of the assembly. I had the pleasure of holding Emma. Mrs. Smith's class was very excited to see me come back with the dog. They all wanted to pet her. This was a great assembly. Thank you so much Mr. Sargent!

OH, WHAT A DAY!

We had quite an interesting Monday this week. As we were getting ready to line up for PE, they came over the intercom and said we were under a tornado warning and that we needed to go to our safe places. It was only our 11th day of school and we had not practiced severe weather drills yet. We lined up and went down the hallway to our designated severe weather area. The students did a GREAT job! I was so proud of all of them!!!!!

GOTCHA's

We will have our Gotcha Kickoff Assembly Friday (Aug. 22) afternoon. GOTCHAs are a school- wide positive behavior program. You will begin to see GOTCHAs coming home for good behavior or a Minor Behavior Incident when students need to be reminded of a rule. Students earning 5 GOTCHAs in a certain period of time will attend a GOTCHA party.

Getting to Know the School

We spent the first few days of school getting to know people and places at CES. We met the ladies in the lunchroom, our principal and assistant principal, the office staff, the Media Specialists, and many more. We stopped to take pictures with as many of our new friends as possible.

2008-2009 School Year

I am loving my new boys and girls. This class is full of personality and very sweet children. The boys and girls are doing a great job following directions and learning the rules. We get compliments everywhere we go from other adults saying what a great job we are doing! I am looking forward to a great year!

Mardi Gras in Mrs. Johnson's Class

On Tuesday, we learned about Mardi Gras. We discussed Mardi Gras colors, parades, masks, and practiced saying "Throw Me Something Mister" so we could get beads and Moon Pies! We even made our own Mardi Gras masks. We had a great time!
